Longing Is the Path of Love - #3rdDay

There’s an ache inside me that no comfort can quiet, no success can fill. It’s not because something’s missing, but because I was made for something more—Someone more. I’ve come to see that this longing isn't a weakness or flaw. It’s a holy echo, the fingerprint of God on my soul.

I used to resist it. I tried to silence the restlessness with noise, with busyness, with answers. But over time, I’ve learned to embrace it. Longing has become a sacred thread pulling me toward God—not in dramatic moments, but in the quiet, the ordinary, the ache I can’t quite name.

Sometimes it stirs when I hear the Word and my heart quietly says, "This is it." Other times it comes in worship, when I’m singing and tears come uninvited. Or in prayer, not because I get answers, but because I sense He’s near. I’ve stopped expecting clarity all the time—His presence is enough.

Still, I know how easily my soul reaches for substitutes. I’ve tried to fill the hunger with distractions, achievements, even good things. But they never satisfy. I’m learning, like the early Christians taught, that desire must be trained. Prayer, fasting, stillness—these aren’t religious duties. They’re how I shape my longing and aim it at Him.

The more I walk with God, the more my longing changes. It’s no longer just about what He can do for me, but about being with Him. I don’t just cry, “Help me!”—I whisper, “Stay with me.” I’m not chasing comfort. I’m pursuing love. The kind that gives, endures, and worships without needing to understand everything.

And strangely, the closer I get to Him, the deeper the longing becomes. It’s a paradox I’ve come to cherish. The more I taste His beauty, the more I hunger. Not because He withholds, but because He’s infinite. His nearness only expands my desire. This isn’t frustration—it’s love unfolding, widening.

I believe there will come a day when this ache will meet its end—not in silence, but in a song. I will see Him face to face. The longing will turn into wonder. And even then, I know I won’t stop loving. Because He is unending, my joy will be unending too. Heaven won’t close the door on longing—it will open it fully.

So I no longer fear this ache. I let it guide me. I refuse to numb it or dismiss it. It’s not a wound—it’s a flame. It’s the path of love, and I’m learning to walk it with open hands and a burning heart.
